Stay connected with the following Canvas features

Canvas observers, parents or guardians, play an important role in staying connected with their students' learning progress. Here are some actions a Canvas observer can take to stay connected.

Message- Directly message the teacher within Canvas LMS instead of email.
Announcements - Read the announcements sent by the teacher to observers.
Notifications - Look for and read notifications from the instructor. This may include items such as due dates or missing work.
Monitor Grades - Canvas allows observers to view their student's grades and track their progress over time. Observers can monitor grades to identify areas where their student may need additional support or intervention.

What can observers do?

Parents and guardians are referred to as observers in Canvas.

Observers can:

View and read announcements
View the assignments index page
View personal inbox for messages
Send conversation messages to the instructor and student they are observing
View the dashboard
View grades and print grades for the student(s) they are observing
View assignment due dates and comments
View modules and see due dates and point values
View the syllabus
View outcomes and the outcome gradebook (mastery gradebook)
View quizzes index page
